Hey there, It’s been a minute since I’ve checked in with you. How’s it going? What have you been planting? (Seriously! I want to know. Reply to this email and send me a picture of your latest gardening projects. 👀) I’ve been out there, planting my little heart out. Here I am after a long, sweaty installation in Lambertville, NJ: Everyone loves a before and after, no? Let me deliver! I have 2 recent projects to share with you. Native Planting Project #1: This client had compacted soil and stormwater runoff issues. We loosened and amended the soil, then installed stepping stones and mulch. We planted a mix of creeping groundcovers (woodland & creeping phlox), along with adding coral honeysuckle, asters, and foxgloves to the existing garden beds. The groundcover plants will stabilize the soil, keep it from compacting, and absorb rainwater. (Plus, this client received a $700 rebate through the City of Lambertville for installing native plants. If you live in Lambertville and you want to take advantage of the rebate program, I can help!) Before: After: Native Planting Project #2: The clients had empty space after removing an old, rotting shed. We loosened and amended the lifeless, compacted soil before adding a mulch layer to suppress weeds and retain moisture. Then we planted 200+ plugs and potted plants! It looks great now, and it will be looking even better as it fills in over the next couple of years. We planted: Symphyotrichum oblongifolium (Aromatic Aster) Solidago juncea (Early Goldenrod) Carex vulpinoidea (Fox Sedge) Penstemon digitalis (Foxglove Beardtongue) Allium cernuum (Nodding Onion) Physocarpus opulifolius (Ninebark) Lobelia Cardinalis (Cardinal Flower) Before: After: Thanks for letting me share!
